Inclusion Statement
At the Edmonton Healing Centre, we believe diversity strengthens our community, and we strive to honour the unique identities and perspectives of everyone who walks in our door. We are committed to providing access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care to everyone, regardless of age, race, faith, ethnicity, gender identity, background, sexual orientation, ability, finances, or experience.
In our therapeutic practice, we aim to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel empowered to share their stories, explore their goals, and heal in ways that are authentic to them.
The Edmonton Healing Centre is a program of Jewish Family Services Edmonton. Our core values are rooted in Jewish values, but our staff and practice are not faith based. The foundation of our relationships with clients and each other are grounded in these values:
- We value fairness, emphasizing social justice and open-mindedness
- We value caring, emphasizing compassion, gratitude, and helping those in need
- We value respect, emphasizing inclusivity and regard for the rights, dignity, feelings, wishes, and abilities of others
- We value healing the world, emphasizing social well-being and creating meaning out of confusion.
We recognize that systemic barriers and discrimination can impact mental health and access to care. We also recognize that many traditional mental health supports may not be accessible or appropriate for every individual. Our team is dedicated to addressing these inequities by offering no-cost and low-cost therapy for those in need, and through ongoing education and training for our staff to ensure that our services remain responsive to the needs of historically marginalized groups.
In our work and in our lives, we are committed to building a culture of inclusion, belonging, and equity.
